West Lothian’s Walking Week is an opportunity for all to celebrate the benefits of walking as part of daily life, to encourage those least active to become more active through walking and to showcase the range of walking opportunities that can used for leisure, education and active travel purposes.

PYWFF Health Walk

Wednesday 23rd September, Howden Park Centre, 1.30pm.

We will be offering a variety of health walks, from a few minutes to the walled garden, up to an hour around the surrounding area to the park. Walkers will be supported by volunteers to walk at their own pace. There will be an opportunity for social time and a cuppa after the walk. Whether you already attend one of our weekly walks, or would like to find out more about PYWFF, please come along and feel free to bring a friend.

'Walk your wigs off'

Do you work with a playgroup, nursery or any group for children/young people? Why not join Walking Week this year and register to win £150 for physical activity equipment for your school, nursery or group? Together for Health Fun Family Walk

Friday 25th September 1 - 2.30pm at Armadale Community Centre

This is a family walk suitable for small children and buggies. We will begin at Armadale Community Centre and head up to Armadale’s Community Growing Garden carrying out a treasure hunt as we go. Once at the garden there will be an opportunity to explore the garden and join in the extended Macmillan Coffee Morning if you wish.

Memory Walk Scotland

The Livingston Walk is on the 20th September, with registration at 11.30, the walk starts at 12 with the start and end points at St Margaret’s Academy.

It is between 3 and 5 K with a shorter route for frailer people or people with biggies/wheelchairs. Registration fee of £10 for adults, £5 for teenagers, under 12’s free.

The Linlithgow Walk is on the 27th September, registration at 1.30, the walk starts at 2, start and end point is the Lowport Centre. The route is round the Loch which is about 3K.

Nature walk at house of the Binns

Creatures of the Night*

Join us for an evening stroll where we hope to see creatures like bats, badgers and foxes!

Friday the 11th September, 8 - 9pm Beecraigs Country Park, meet at the Sutherland Building (opposite the visitor centre). Bring a torch and wrap up warm.

Friday the 18th of September, 7.30 - 9pm at Almondell Visitor Centre.

*These activities require advanced booking and there is a cost of £3.55 / adult and £2.40 / child.
